Times of Refreshment
13-7-25 Linares Espana
We are all feeling good! Yesterday, we had another steep climb. We ended the day in a small mountain village with a spectacular view and small, quiet church. On one of the side altars, a mother bird had built her nest. We did not know the nest was there until the mother flew in to feed her babies. Hopefully she'll be able to get them out safely!
This morning, we climbed to the peak and walked into the village of O'Cebreiro. We are now in Galicia, the last region of our journey. A bagpipe was playing as we entered town. Galicia was settled by Celts, and the influence still exists. The language, Galega, is still spoken by some. After attending the mass and having a meal, we continued on for a short walk to our next village.
As in life, a pilgrimage has ups and downs. We have certainly enjoyed the time of refreshment, although the way ahead is uncertain, we are nearing the end of this journey!
The Lord is my shepherd, therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall feed me in a green pasture, and bring me forth beside the waters of comfort.
He will convert my soul, and lead me in the paths of righteousness for his Name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me.
Thou shalt prepare a table before me in the presence of them that trouble me; thou hast anointed my head with oil, and my cup shall be full.
Surely thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm 23
