Blessed is she that believed
22-6-25 Azofra, Espana
In Morning Prayer this week, we've been reading through the beginning of Luke's Gospel. In Viana, we came upon two beautiful paintings in one of the side chapels. Painted in 1786 + 1787 by Luis Paret y Alcázar, these paintings depict the angel speaking to Zacharias in the temple, and Mary visiting Elisabeth. Seeing these illustrations of what we had read was inspiring.
We are on day 12 of our journey. With the rest days, our pilgrimage is expected to take 40 days. There is a long way to go.
Today we attended mass in Najera and then walked only 6 kilometers to Azofra. We arrived just as they were beginning the Corpus Christi procession. After joining the procession, we ate lunch at the only bar in town, with all the locals.
We love these posts. What a marvelous trip. Have a good Sunday.
