What are your plans?
Frequently we are asked "How long will it take Ed to complete seminary?" and "What are your plans after that?" The answer to the first question is: "about 2 more years." If he is able to keep up his current pace he should be able to make it through before the end of 2021. The answer to the second question is: "We don't know." We did not make this move blindly. We did research and talked with people beforehand. We are hopeful that the Reformed Episcopal Church will have a place for us. We would love to move somewhere closer to our families. Ed hopes to lead a church where it is possible to build up a community. Ideally, we hope to be at a church where we live nearby and people in the congregation live nearby, to live as Christians together throughout the week. We hope to have a team to work with. We hope to build up a church community that would look outside itself and share the gospel of Jesus with others. We trust that God has brought us thus far and he will prepare a place for us to minister. If he chooses to use us somewhere we will be thrilled. If not, it will not be in vain. We are learning so much on this journey and we are happy to be where we are. But, it is not easy!
Ed has completed all his coursework for the summer semester. Fall courses are underway. He has started online Hebrew which will continue for three sessions; Fall, Spring, and Summer. Then his language requirements will be completed! He is currently working on papers for his September course which was called Cure of Souls (how-to-pastor). He enjoyed the class, although he was reminded of the solemnity of the role of pastor.
Esther simply loves school! She thrives in the environment and seems to be growing in many ways. She has a loose tooth and a new molar. We have to constantly remind her not to touch her mouth! Mel and Esther do Morning Prayer before school each day. We want God's Word to be in her heart as she goes out. We also do Evening Prayer as a family. These times are special to us and we pray for many of you. Please let us know if you have prayer requests.
I continue to manage the home. From washing the vehicles, to paying the bills, to washing the dishes by hand, to editing papers, there is always something to do! Ed and I have enjoyed eating lunch together. He then heads to the bedroom/office to study. I head to our on-site fitness center. I am currently listening to an audiobook called "The Benedict Option: A Strategy for Christians in a Post-Christian Nation" by Rod Dreher. It is an insightful book in evaluating our culture and how Christians can live in our society.
We are looking forward to fall. It hasn't hit Dallas yet! Blessings to you all.

Fall has arrived here. The trees are quickly turning to rich autumn shades of orange and gold. The wind has arrived too bringing with it a season of renewed focus, strength, and joy. I see that in your story and it is both beautiful and exciting to read about and pray over as our Lord continues to direct our paths. Peace to you dear friends!
