Abide in Me
At this point we will most likely only do quarterly updates!
Here is the update for the first quarter of 2018.
January, February and March have been a flurry of activity. We purchased an RV, now sitting in our driveway. We plan on living in this for the next 3-4 years! Our plan is to have our home base at Sandy Lake RV Park in Carrollton, TX.
Ed also finished his Old Testament class by writing a 30 page paper.
We have begun selling/donating many of our possessions. We have continued to work on finishing our home. Ed works full-time with Think Construction. Mel manages the home :) Once per month we travel to Tinley Park, IL where Ed assists with the worship service at St. Andrew's Anglican Church. We have agonized over many decisions! This has been a grueling pace and we are thankful that there is an end in sight (on earth or in heaven!) We hope to list our house the beginning of July and we would like to move the beginning of September.
During all this we are reminded to ask God for our daily bread. A quote on our refrigerator is by John Swanson, our beloved pastor who passed away in March of 2013. "Jesus includes 'daily' (bread) in order to restrain our greed and to promote our peace."
We are reminded to abide in Christ. In the midst of our busyness, our Savior who died for our sins is calling: "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:4-5
Esther, is our greatest joy and challenge! The girl has spunk and she keeps us hopping. We often feel our failures in parenting her but daily ask God for his mercy. She is learning and growing each day. Our prayer is that she will be a follower of Jesus all her days.
